Our text for today is Matthew 7:24-29, about building our life on the Rock. This text is about salvation, but it is also about living the Christian life, and also about making decisions in church. All that we do in life and in church should be done in obedience to Christ, under the leadership of his Spirit, and to achieve his goals for us, his people. We are always building upon Christ as our Rock. Like building a house on rock instead of on sand, we must (1) choose to build our life on Christ. We must choose to receive him as Savior. And, like building a house, (2) building a life upon Christ takes time. A house is not built in a day, and in the initial days after our salvation we need to grow in knowledge, in faith, and in the grace of God in Christ. And, also, like houses must be maintained, so (3) our Christian life, all of our years, needs to be maintained. No matter how long we have been Christians, we must constantly focus on Christ as our foundation. Pastor David Packer
