Keywords: As we have examined Christmas in the Home during Advent, we have looked at how we can experience hope, peace, and joy in our homes. Today we are looking at love in our homes. To know and share the love of God with others is described in the Bible as the greatest gift that God has given to us. In the world's estimation, however, "love" is often viewed selfishly, merely as some temporary emotion, only a feeling that makes the one who loves feel special. But true love is unselfish in its nature and is connected to kindness, goodness, and sacrifice for others. True love is costly, for it cost God his Son, as it was love that sent Christ to the cross. Some families say "I love you" to one another often. Some do not use the word often, but rather they act it out in consideration, respect, encouragements, and sometimes even disciplines. To say the word "love" and not back it up with actions is an empty expression. But it is also wrong to assume that our words do not matter - they do! If God's love is in our family we will both speak kindly and act kindly toward one another. Our text is the love chapter of the Bible and is divided into three sections: the necessity of love; the character of love; and the endurance of love. May God fill your home with love this Christmas.
