Keywords: Happy Pentecost Sunday!

Jesus called the Spirit the paraclete or "the one who runs along beside" (John 14:16). The word is translated different ways: "Comforter," "Counsellor," or "Helper," but it pictures the great work of the Spirit in our lives to bring us to salvation and to spiritual maturity.

I will be preaching today on "Conversion" or "turning to Christ." We will see that it is not possible to trust in Christ without the Spirit's work in convicting us of our need of Christ and shepherding us through the new birth experience. Jesus said that we believers in him are "born of the Spirit" (John 3:8).

Questions for Discussion:
Here are some discussion questions you and your family can use:

What are some of the differences in the way the Spirit of God related to believers in the Old Testament and how he relates to believers in the Church Age?
How would you explain the experience of hearing God speak to your heart?
Why does God convict us of our sins? What is his goal?
What must we realize in order to turn to Christ in faith for salvation?
What is the Spirit's role in bringing about the new birth?
What are some truths related to salvation that every Christian needs to know?
What did Jesus mean when he said that the Spirit will "take from what is mine and make it known to you" (John 16:14)?
Blessings,
Pastor David
