Keywords: Some may laugh that on the day of our church picnic I am preaching on Noah, but I am not predicting a flood! Noah build an ark on dry ground, revealing his faith. The ark and the flood were not his ideas, but God's, and Noah was obedient. People of faith are different from others - we see what others cannot, so we do what others do not. To live by faith means to live in light of the commands and the promises of God, that despite the "spiritual dryness" of this world we still trust in the "showers of blessings" from God. "Faith is --- the evidence of things not seen" (Hebrews 11:1), and our hearts can be assured by simply trusting in God and in his promises. Sometimes we know plainly how to do God's will because his Word tells us exactly what we should do: do not lie, do not steal, for example. Other times God gives us principles to live by and attitudes to adopt - love your neighbor as yourself, for example - but God gives us freedom to choose how to live those out. The The important thing is that our hearts are submissive to his will, ready to obey as he leads us. How are you building an ark on dry ground? How are you standing on the promises of God and obeying the commands of God? If we see through faith what others cannot, we will do what others do not.
